Tennis Stud Andrew Ferris named “All-Star Athlete”

Andrew Ferris is captain of the tennis team at Creekside High School and finished the season as the district tournament champion of Class 4A in both singles and doubles, leading the Creekside boys to their first district team championship since 2009.

Outside the classroom, Andrew was a founding member of both the Sports Management and American Sign Language Clubs at Creekside. He also teaches private tennis lessons to a student with special needs once a week, as well as running group tennis clinics for kids 10 and under that are just learning the sport.

Andrew has a 3.8 GPA and has chosen to attend Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, this fall and play on the men’s tennis team.

Athlete of the Week 10/9-10/13

Margaret is the prime example of student-athlete and leader.  She has led the volleyball team in digs all season, and has excelled in recent matches with 53 digs.  She never stops working hard, is always positive excels in the classroom as a student.   She is a great example for all student-athletes of how to be a leader both on and off the court.

Vance Bennett is a senior who has worked hard and done everything that has been asked of him.  This past week in a game against Episcopal, Vance stepped in and played a different position than normal to fill the vacancy of an injured teammate.  While doing so, Vance scored 3 touchdowns and rushed for 240 yards!  We are proud of how he stepped in to lead!

 

Athlete of the Week

Senior Keisha Phillip is in her 3rd year of Cheer.  Keisha always goes above and beyond what is required of her at practice and the games.  She performs with a smile, while exuding energy and spirit.  She is also an outstanding student and citizen in the classroom and around Creekside High School.

Building a very successful Freshman year, Claire Openshaw has continued to lead the Creekside Girls Cross Country Team.  At the Alligator Lake Invitational last weekend, she was the overall, individual champion with a time of 18:51.  There is more opportunity in the near future for Claire and the girls cross country team as they head to Tallahassee for the Pre-State Invitational t
