Less than a week after beating Fleming Island for a District Championship, the Knights Soccer team defeated the Golden Eagles to secure a spot in the Regional Semi-Finals.

After taking a 2-1 lead on Aldin Tahirovic’s second goal of the game, a quick back and forth from Creekside and Fleming made it interesting, but the Knights held on for the win!

The Knights will visit Tallahassee on Saturday 2/15 to take on host Leon in the 6A Regional Semi-Final matchup

Boys Soccer Power Poll: Knights march to top spot

The Times-Union highlights the top teams this season in high school boys soccer.

Here are this week’s Times-Union’s high school boys soccer Power Rankings, highlighting the leading teams from across Northeast Florida. The rankings are released each week through the end of the regular season. Records are through Jan. 20 games.

1. Creekside (12-1-1, 4A). Last week: 2.

Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Crescent City, Menendez, Nease, Oakleaf, Ponte Vedra, Stanton. This week: A goal from Josiah Sanchez propelled the Knights to a 1-0 victory against Bartram Trail, a make-up game from December, and secured a top seed in the District 4-4A tournament. That’s a pretty good week. Creekside is nearly perfect on the season, with the exception of a November loss to Spruce Creek, as opponents continue to struggle to get past goalkeeper Dean Jamsheedy and the Knights’ defense. One more test remains on the regular season schedule, a Tuesday battle at Fletcher that should be as big as it looks on paper.

Creekside (2-0-0, 4A).

This week: Two games at Jacksonville private school powers, two wins. This Knights team looks really good, and they showed off their skills Wednesday in an outstanding 5-0 win at Class 2A state semifinalist Bishop Kenny. The multi-talented Zane Bubb enjoyed a sensational game – he scored two goals, set up two others and cleared two shots off the line. Bubb combined especially well with River Guthrie, who netted a hat trick, while junior central defender Jeffrey Huynh played well beyond his years in anticipating trouble, snuffing it out and making the right decisions with the ball. Creekside next plays Tuesday against always-formidable Volusia County school Spruce Creek.
