{"id":13,"date":"2014-04-01T13:33:22","date_gmt":"2014-04-01T17:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www-chs.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/guidance\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2026-09-08T15:14:43","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T19:14:43","slug":"fbr","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www-chs.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/guidance\/fbr\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Bright Futures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large\"><strong>Creekside High School\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-78 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www-chs.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/04\/logo_bf.gif\" alt=\"logo_bf\" width=\"192\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships to eligible Florida high school graduates attending qualifying postsecondary institutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Bright Futures offers four scholarship awards:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Florida Academic Scholars (FAS)<\/li>\n<li>Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)<\/li>\n<li>Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars (GSC)<\/li>\n<li>Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Class of 2027 Application Information<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Class of 2027 seniors may submit the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) beginning October 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Students must submit an error-free FFAA between October 1, 2026, and August 31, 2027. Students who do not apply by the deadline will not be eligible to receive a Bright Futures Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Students are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as the application becomes available\u2014even if they have not yet met the required GPA, test-score, coursework, or service\/work-hour requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org\/\">Create a student account and complete the FFAA<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Select <strong>\u201cCreate a Student Account\u201d<\/strong> under <strong>\u201cFirst-Time Applicants.\u201d<\/strong> Students should save their username and password in a secure location. Creekside High School does not have access to students\u2019 login information.<\/p>\n<h3>Student Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Students are responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Understanding and meeting all Bright Futures eligibility requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Submitting the FFAA by the required deadline.<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring their application and award status through their online account.<\/li>\n<li>Keeping the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) informed of demographic or institutional changes.<\/li>\n<li>Completing the required volunteer service hours, paid-work hours, or approved combination of hours.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that their identifying information matches across their school records and college entrance exam registrations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Creekside High School automatically submits eligible students\u2019 high school transcripts, including reported volunteer service and paid-work hours, to the Florida Department of Education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Official ACT, CLT, and SAT scores accepted by the program must be available to the Florida Department of Education for evaluation. Students should carefully follow the current score-reporting instructions provided by OSFA. Students must send their ACT\/CLT\/SAT scores to one Florida public school for the Florida Department of Education to have access to them for evaluation purposes.<\/p>\n<h3>Bright Futures GPA<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Bright Futures GPA is not necessarily the same as the cumulative GPA shown on a student\u2019s report card or transcript. Bright Futures calculates a weighted GPA using designated college-preparatory courses. Additional eligible academic courses may be included when permitted by the program.<\/p>\n<h3>Evaluation Timeline<\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><strong>Early evaluations:<\/strong> Award-status postings may begin in March.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Final evaluations:<\/strong> Award-status postings may begin in July.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Students must log in to their OSFA accounts to view their eligibility status and evaluation results. Please keep your username and password in a safe location.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Additional Information<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Eligibility requirements are subject to change.
