New Head Strength Coach looks to bring enthusiasm and intensity to Creekside Athletics

Creekside is proud to announce the addition of new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Coach Oscar Lujan.  Coach Lujan comes to Creekside from Texas having grown up in the West Texas town of Alpine and graduating from Alpine High School in 1993 where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball and track and field. After graduating, he attended Ranger Jr. College and Texas A&M – Kingsville where he competed in both baseball programs.  Coach Lujan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in May of 2000.  With 17 years experience in teaching and coaching, Coach Lujan brings an enthusiastic and demanding style of expectations to Creekside for the upcoming school year.

“I am here to demand respect, get the most out of your child, and more importantly to help your children become better brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, and members of society.  I come with an attitude of wanting to create an environment of higher achievements and player development that will be long lasting throughout the young student/athlete’s lifetime.” – Coach Lujan

 

Coach Lujan has coached an overabundance of high school athletes who have gone on to further their careers at the Division I, II, III, and junior college levels in multiple sports.  He has coached district champions, regional champions, and even state champions in the state of Texas.  He brings  an intensity needed to take Creekside Athletics to the next level!

Creekside tabs Chris Navarro to lead Boys XC

Creekside Athletics is thrilled to promote longtime assistant coach, Chris Navarro to lead Creekside Boys Cross Country.  Coach Navarro started as an Assistant Coach in 2010 for both Cross Country and Track and Field and has spent the last several years working closely with former Head Coach, Eric Frank.  Coach Navarro is a familiar face that will bring a seamless transition moving forward into the 2018 season.  In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Navarro has participated in numerous sports growing up, focusing on Track and Field from 6th grade through college, as a Division III sprinter.  As an adult, Coach Navarro is an active skier, cyclist, and runner, competing in all events up to and including the marathon.
Coach Navarro is very excited take on the challenge of being the Head Coach for Creekside Boys Cross Country, focusing on growing young men and guiding them to championship success.  He feels that in addition the success the Creekside Cross Country program has had, the focus has always been on the student athlete and helping them prepare for the future.  The boys are the reason for the success in the past and will remain so in the future.

Creekside looks forward to a run at the podium this year and to return to where championship form when the team won back to back state championships in 2015 and 2016.

Creekside High School Athletics to host Fall Sports Media Day

St. Johns County’s top rated athletics program, Creekside High School, will host a “Fall Sports Media Day” on Saturday, August, 11th from 11am-3pm presented by Leonard’s Studios.  The event will focus attention on the athletes and coaches of the Creekside Knights’ football, cheerleading, dance, volleyball, cross country, swim & dive and golf teams.  

 

In this exciting opportunity, Creekside’s Fall Sports teams will be on hand to take their annual, professional sports portraits with Leonard’s Studios. Additionally, local sports media outlets including The St. Augustine Record, Actions Sports Jax, 1010XL, Duval Sports, In the Game Sports Network, and more will be on hand to conduct interviews with coaches and athletes.  Creekside’s Fall Sports teams host a wealth of accomplished, high profile athletic talent that features several Division I prospects, All County athletes, District Champions, State Playoff contenders, State Runner-Ups and State Champions!

 

The event will feature food, games, activities and an overall enjoyable atmosphere for the everyone.  Family, friends, and supporters of Creekside Athletics alike are encouraged to join us as we prepare for another successful sports season!
