Creekside’s Dickman finishes 3rd at state wrestling tournament

Brandon Dickman not only finished third for the second consecutive year at the Class 2A state wrestling championships, the Creekside senior also beat the same wrestler in the third-place match.

Dickman and Bartram Trail junior Nick Vugman both took home third-place medals at the 2A championships Saturday in Kissimmee.

Dickman, a four-time state qualifier, pinned Jermaine Teague of Cypress Lake in 3:59 in the third-place match of the 182-pound weight class. Teague had sent Dickman into wrestlebacks with a 4-3 decision.

Last year Dickman won in overtime with a sudden victory over Teague to claim third place in the 170-pound class.
