Coach Cashwell Named Head Girls Basketball Coach

Congratulations to Coach Wade Cashwell for being named Head Coach of the Lady Knights Basketball Program.  Coach Cashwell has been with the Creekside Family for the past four seasons, three of those as an assistant coach and last year as interim Head Coach.  As interim coach he led the Lady Knights to their first 20 win season and first ever postseason playoff win.

Coach Cashwell started his high school coaching career at the, then brand new, Fort White High School in Fort White, Florida in 2000. For three years he would serve as a men’s basketball assistant.  In 2003 he would then move to Branford High School where he would join the women’s basketball program as an assistant eventually taking over the program in 2005.  He would also coach football and baseball at Branford and would serve as the school’s assistant athletic director from 2010-2011 and then athletic director from 2011-2013.  As head coach of the Branford Lady Buccaneers from 2005-2013, he would build a program that would post multiple winning seasons and ultimately make its’ first play-off appearance in over a decade.  He also helped revive the Branford middle school boys’ basketball program and created the first, in the school’s over 75 year history, middle school girls program.   In 2013, Coach Cashwell was recognized as a candidate for the Florida Athletic Coaches Association 1A Coach of the Year in women’s basketball.

In 2013 Coach Cashwell and his family settled in St. Johns County.  He and his wife have been married for 19 years and both serve in the St. Johns County school system.  They have two children that also attend St. John’s County schools.  Coach Cashwell is excited to be starting this new phase in his coaching career and looks forward to continuing to grow the Lady Knight’s Program.
